CLEANING CARTRIDGE FILTERS


1. Look at pressure gauge-note pressure. Shut off motor.
2. If system is located below water level, shut off suction and discharge valves.
3. Open any air valves or drain valves on filter if present.
4. Follow manufacturers instructions, remove cartridge from filter (remove clamping devices, wing nuts, etc.)
5. Insert spare, cleaned cartridge into filter.
6. Close filter & clamp or tighten, secure properly and close drain valve.
7. Open suction and discharge valves (leave filter air bleeder on filter open).
8. If water has drained out of pump strainer, prime the pump and start the motor.
9. When water comes out of air bleeder close air valve (air may purge from system before water comes out of bleeder).



HELPFUL HINTS
  • Having two sets of cartridges is recommended (one for initial use and the other to have to install when you remove the dirty cartridge for cleaning)
  • Proper cleaning procedure is as follows:
         Step 1: Conditioning (To remove suntan oils, grease, etc...)
         Step 2: Acid washing (To remove minerals, scale, etc...)
         Step 3: Sanitizing (To prevent bacteria growth)
  • The Pool Doctor provides a 24 Hour turn over for cleaning Cartridge and Diatomaceous Earth filters.
  • Change or clean cartridges every 3-4 weeks when the water is clear
  • Change cartridges every morning and evening when the water is cloudy or green.
  • Pool water clarity, from any condition, should improve in 3 days, if not, call immediately for assistance
  • If the heater is running, shut it off and run the pool motor for 15 minutes (This will cool down the heater and prevent pipe melt down).

If you are adding water to the pool once a week or more - you have a LEAK! Call the Pool Doctor immediately for assistance.

FYI'S
  • Pool water clarity, from any condition, should improve in 3 days. If you are adding water to the pool once a week, you have a leak.
