CLEANING SAND FILTERS


1. Shut off the motor. Turn the Multiport Valve handle to Backwash, Turn the motor back on and let it run until the water in the site glass is clear (approximately 2-3 minutes).
2. Shut the motor off and turn the Multiport Valve handle to Rinse, Turn the motor back on and let it run until the water in the site glass is clear (approximately 1 minute).
3. Shut the motor off and turn the Multiport Valve handle to Filter, Turn the motor back on.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
1. BACKWASH filter after vacuuming heavy sediment or debris
2. The Pool Doctor recommends that the sand in the filter be changed every 4 to 5 years for a residential pool and every 2 to 3 years for a commercial pool under NORMAL use.
3. If the heater is running, shut it off and run the pool motor for 15 minutes (This will cool down the heater and prevent pipe melt down).

HELPFUL HINTS
1. When you are vacuuming the pool, make sure that the Multiport Valve handle is in the FILTER position unless you have heavy sediment then make sure it is set in the WASTE position.
2. You may need to add some water after cleaning (the Backwash procedure sometimes lowers the water level about ΒΌ inch to 1 inch).
3. When the pool water is clear, BACKWASH filter every week
4. When pool water is cloudy or green, BACKWASH filter every morning and evening.
5. Pool water clarity, from any condition should improve within 3 days, If not call The Pool Doctor immediately.
6. If you are adding water to the pool once a week or more, you have a LEAK!
